Scenario Description

Multiple network port PLCs (Programmable Logic Controllers) and Modbus instruments in a device manufacturing factory are undergoing IoT transformation.

 The factory already possesses an IoT cloud platform, MES (Manufacturing Execution System) system, and equipment management platform, etc. Data needs to be uploaded and downloaded via the MQTT protocol. The MQTT server can acquire real-time status data from PLCs and also send control instructions. Additionally, it can gather data from various instruments to achieve real-time equipment and production monitoring, enabling rapid response during fault alarms.

Solution

The Wutongbolian data acquisition gateway provides three networking options: 5G/4G, WIFI, and Ethernet.

 It can interface with various brands and models of PLCs (such as Siemens, Mitsubishi, Omron, Schneider, Delta, and Inovance) and multiple Modbus instruments (including electricity meters, water meters, and gas meters) for protocol parsing and data collection. It standardizes data such as temperature, humidity, and pressure and connects to the IoT cloud platform using the MQTT protocol.

System Architecture

  • Device Layer: PLCs, Modbus instruments, and other devices are connected to the data acquisition gateway via serial or network ports.
  • Gateway Layer: The gateway performs protocol parsing, data collection, and communication, supporting 5G/4G/WIFI/Ethernet, etc.
  • Platform Layer: The MQTT cloud platform receives various data and enables visualization, display, and analysis.
